A new app developed by a Bengaluru techie is making waves for tackling one of the city's most persistent problems—potholes. Dubbed the Bengaluru Live Gundi Tracker, the app allows users to view real-time locations of potholes across the city, much like Google Maps shows traffic or landmarks.

Users can not only spot potholes on specific roads but also upload photos and details of new ones they encounter. The crowdsourced platform aims to create a dynamic and constantly updated pothole map to help commuters navigate more safely and help civic authorities respond faster.
Although the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) already runs an app called Gundi Kanda for pothole complaints, its effectiveness has been questioned due to low resolution rates. In contrast, the new app has gained popularity for its user-friendly interface and real-time visibility.
Residents have lauded the initiative, with many calling it a much-needed tool in a city known for its traffic woes and road maintenance challenges. The app’s growing popularity has also drawn BBMP's attention, with citizens urging the civic body to collaborate and act swiftly on the reported potholes.
By turning every citizen into a road reporter, the Live Gundi Tracker offers a fresh, tech-driven solution to Bengaluru’s age-old pothole problem—one street at a time.
