According to the post, the engineer had requested clarity on a project due to a lack of proper onboarding and undefined expectations. Instead of receiving guidance, he was met with gaslighting and public criticism from his manager, ultimately leading to an emotional breakdown during the meeting.
The engineer cited ongoing issues such as inconsistent support, shifting responsibilities, and a workplace culture where appreciation was rare and public shaming was common. The manager’s conduct allegedly included late-night work calls, blame-shifting, and dismissive responses to valid concerns. Upon submitting his resignation, the engineer was subjected to a sarcastic comment: “Good luck finding another job. Let’s see how long you last there.”
The incident has sparked a wave of support online, with many professionals in the comments sharing similar experiences of toxic leadership and emotional strain in the tech industry. The story underscores the urgent need for empathetic leadership, structured onboarding, and respectful communication in the workplace.
