Heavy rainfall brought relief to residents of Bengaluru amidst a serious water crisis, but also caused disruptions at Kempegowda International Airport. Several flights, including international passenger flights, were diverted due to the inclement weather. The airport's Terminal 2 reported roof cracks, resulting in water leakage near the baggage conveyor belt area, leading to the closure of the affected section.

Bengaluru International Airport Limited officials cited heavy rainfall and strong winds, rendering the airport inaccessible for landing during a specific timeframe, resulting in flight diversions to Chennai. The recently inaugurated Phase 1 of Terminal 2, designed to accommodate 25 million passengers annually, faced operational challenges amidst the adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) reported uprooting of around 70 trees and branches from 171 trees falling onto roads due to lightning and storms. The city had been grappling with a water crisis for months, with certain areas severely affected. The timely rainfall, though disruptive, brought relief to water-stressed residents.
The India Meteorological Department recorded 14 mm of rainfall in Bengaluru, with temperatures ranging between 33 and 22 degrees Celsius. Despite the disruptions, the rain offers a respite to Bengaluru's parched landscape, albeit highlighting the need for better infrastructure resilience amidst extreme weather events.
