Ahead of the event, awareness campaigns are already underway in Bengaluru’s colleges, including St. Joseph’s and Christ University, where life-size elephant installations made from the invasive Lantana camara plant are promoting conservation and coexistence. WWF-India and Metastring Foundation’s Ravi Chellam have been conducting expert talks to engage students.
On March 22, WWF-India, in collaboration with the Karnataka Forest Department, will host an Earth Hour event at Greater Hessarghatta Grassland Conservation Reserve from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Activities will include a nature trail, clean-up drive, and interactive biodiversity games.
WWF-India’s CEO Ravi Singh reportedly highlighted the significance of this year’s Earth Hour, stating that its alignment with World Water Day presents an opportunity to drive collective action for water conservation.
