Nursing pods are set to provide convenience for young mothers traveling through major railway stations in the Bengaluru Division. These eight modern pods feature well-lit interiors, comfortable cushioned seats, and convenient diaper changing units.
Following the positive response to a nursing pod at Hubballi railway station, the initiative is expanding to include four pods at KSR Bengaluru City Station—located in the ladies waiting hall and on the combined platforms of 2/3, 5/6, and 7/8. Additional pods will be established at Yesvantpur, Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT), Cantonment, and Dharmapuri stations, supplementing existing feeding cubicles at KSR Bengaluru and Bengaluru Cantonment.
To implement this initiative, a private partner will contribute an annual fee of Rs 5.35 lakh to Indian Railways for all eight units in Bengaluru.
Alongside the nursing pods, the upcoming amenities include Relaxation Centres featuring massage chairs at KSR Bengaluru, Yelahanka, Whitefield, KR Puram, Tumakuru, Yesvantpur, and SMVT stations.
Advanced storage solutions, such as self-operated digital lockers equipped with QR code scanners for securing valuables and luggage, are also in the pipeline for KSR Bengaluru, Yesvantpur, and SMVT stations.
