The fourth edition of the Green Literature Festival (GLF), India’s only literary event focused entirely on environmental themes, is set to take place on Saturday, December 7, at Century Club, Cubbon Park, Bengaluru. Scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., the festival promises a dynamic lineup of activities aimed at fostering a deeper connection with nature and promoting sustainable practices.

Since its launch in June 2021, GLF has emerged as a unique platform exploring the intersection of literature and environmentalism. Founder Benedict Paramanand describes the event as “a response to the urgent need for literature that nurtures love and care for the planet through positive climate action.”

This year’s festival will feature around 30 speakers, workshops by WWF-India and Mongabay India, stalls showcasing sustainable products, and an exclusive all-day children’s green festival. The children’s segment has been significantly expanded, with dedicated sessions throughout the day.

Notable highlights include a session on climate education led by global activist Matthew Pye, alongside key panels like The Nilgiris in Focus, Environmental News: Accuracy vs Sensationalism, and Rewilding: The Only Hope. Additionally, the event will delve into topics like human-animal conflict, iconic Indian trees, and storytelling through nature.

GLF, which has hosted over 50 authors, filmmakers, and photographers, aims to broaden its reach in coming years, potentially expanding to other cities to amplify its impact.
