The letter of intent for the hub was signed on July 11 between the Italian Consul General in Bengaluru and Rahul Sankanur, Managing Director of the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS). The upcoming hub aims to foster cross-border collaboration in startup acceleration and academic exchanges.

Planned as a joint endeavour, the hub is expected to take shape within one of the existing Centres of Excellence operating in Bengaluru. Discussions on the exact location are ongoing, with decisions anticipated in the coming months.

This will be the first such bilateral innovation hub between Italy and India, signalling a new phase of international cooperation in the tech ecosystem. The initiative is designed to enhance connectivity between startups, academic institutions, and innovation-driven enterprises from both countries.

Once operational, the hub is expected to serve as a strategic platform for nurturing innovation, facilitating joint research, and supporting entrepreneurial ventures. It is also likely to pave the way for new partnerships in emerging technologies and sustainable development sectors.

The development reinforces Bengaluru’s role as a global innovation hub while opening new doors for Italian enterprises and academic institutions in India.
