Bengaluru is set to revolutionize its traffic navigation system with the introduction of a dedicated app, as per reports. In a strategic move to alleviate congestion and streamline commuting, the Bengaluru Traffic Police have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with technology company Mappls MapmyIndia.

The bespoke navigation app tailored for Bengaluru promises real-time updates for commuters, aiming to guide them efficiently to their destinations amidst the city’s bustling streets. With features designed to minimize travel time, the app will offer alternative routes to avoid traffic snarls, along with timely alerts on congestion, road closures, and road conditions.

Highlighting the significance of this initiative, a senior police officer reportedly emphasized its potential to expedite traffic management efforts. The app not only empowers commuters but also aids traffic police in identifying and mitigating congestion promptly.

Moreover, Bengaluru’s traffic management endeavours extend beyond the app, incorporating AI-integrated cameras to monitor traffic violations. Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, earlier underscored the city’s commitment to leveraging technology for efficient traffic management. Drawing inspiration from global best practices, authorities are collaborating with the BBMP to devise comprehensive strategies for traffic management in Bengaluru.

As the city grapples with the influx of thousands of vehicles daily, these innovative measures signal a proactive approach towards addressing Bengaluru’s evolving transportation needs.
