Both projects have been strongly advocated by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who is determined to make a lasting impact as the Bengaluru Development Minister.

The tunnel road project’s first phase will involve constructing an 18-kilometer twin-tube corridor connecting the Hebbal flyover to the Central Silk Board junction, featuring five entry and exit points. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil announced that the cabinet has granted administrative approval, with tenders expected to be invited soon.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also recently lobbied Prime Minister Narendra Modi for financial support, requesting ₹30,000 crore to fund the project, which aims to connect National Highway 7 (NH7) with National Highway 14 (NH14). Siddaramaiah emphasized that the project is ideal for a joint venture between the state government and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). He urged Modi to ensure that necessary funds are allocated to both the state and NHAI in the Union budget, highlighting the project’s crucial role in reducing Bengaluru’s traffic problems.
