Addressing the city's chronic traffic congestion, Shivakumar reaffirmed the necessity of a tunnel road project, stating that the government has approved its Detailed Project Report (DPR). The 40-km tunnel road is set to move forward with tendering set to begin immediately.

In addition to white-topping and the tunnel road, the government is investing ₹3,000 crore in constructing 300 km of 50-foot-wide buffer roads along stormwater drains. These roads, particularly in ITPL, R.R. Nagar, and Thanisandra, aim to ease bottlenecks in high-traffic zones. Plans are also in place to issue Transferable Development Rights (TDRs) to facilitate further road expansion.

Further infrastructure initiatives include the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) project, with an estimated cost of ₹27,000 crore, and the development of 109 km of double-decker roads along metro corridors for ₹9,000 crore. These projects collectively seek to mitigate Bengaluru’s traffic gridlock and enhance urban mobility.

With major investments and large-scale infrastructure upgrades, the government aims to create a more efficient road network in the city, tackling congestion and improving overall connectivity.
