Bengaluru is set to host a spectacular ‘Kaveri Aarti’ at Sankey Lake in Sadashivanagar today, inspired by the famous Ganga Aarti of Varanasi. Organized by the Water Board on the eve of World Water Day, the event aims to honour the sacred river Kaveri and highlight water conservation.

The festivities begin at 2 pm with a special puja at Kadu Malleshwara Temple, followed by a homa dedicated to Goddess Ganga. At 4 pm, a grand procession carrying 108 kalashas of Kaveri water from Bhagamandala will make its way to Sankey Lake. The Kaveri Aarti puja will commence at 7 pm, featuring an oath-taking ceremony on a specially arranged floating platform—a first for Bengaluru. Priests from North India and a renowned group from Varanasi will lead the rituals.
Adding to the grandeur, the event will feature musical performances by acclaimed singers Ananya Bhat and Raghu Dixit from 5:30 pm. The floating platform, brought from Mumbai, will host a 50-minute aarti performed by two dedicated groups. To enhance the visual spectacle, extensive lamp-lighting arrangements have been made.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of the event, stating that the initiative pays tribute to Mother Kaveri while raising awareness about the importance of water conservation.
With an evening of devotion, music, and tradition, Bengaluru’s Kaveri Aarti promises to be a mesmerizing experience.
