Bengaluru Traffic Police honoured with ‘Golden Peacock Award’ for ASTraM innovation

The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has been recognized with the prestigious Golden Peacock Innovative Product/Service Award for 2025, acknowledging its pioneering efforts in traffic management through the ASTraM initiative. This accolade highlights BTP’s commitment to leveraging technology for smarter and more efficient urban mobility solutions.

ASTraM, short for Actionable Intelligence for Sustainable Transformation Management, is an advanced traffic engine designed to provide real-time, data-driven insights into Bengaluru’s road conditions. The initiative enhances situational awareness by integrating congestion alerts, automated incident reporting via a mobile application BOT, and special event management. Additionally, ASTraM’s dashboard analytics empower authorities to make informed decisions, thereby optimizing traffic flow and reducing bottlenecks across the city.

The initiative has been lauded for its potential to streamline urban traffic systems and mitigate daily commuting challenges in one of India’s busiest metropolitan areas. By harnessing artificial intelligence and automation, ASTraM represents a significant step toward sustainable and technology-driven traffic governance.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 22 at Al Habtoor Palace, located in Al Habtoor City on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. The Golden Peacock Awards, known for recognizing excellence in corporate governance and innovation, reinforce BTP’s role as a frontrunner in smart city traffic solutions. This recognition underscores Bengaluru’s commitment to integrating intelligent traffic management strategies for a safer and more efficient urban landscape.
