  • BBMP plans to fast-track incomplete flyovers in Ejipura, RR Nagar, and Hosakerehalli
  • Projects delayed for years despite initial deadlines and allocated funds
  • New completion target set for year-end, with strict instructions to speed up work

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has taken renewed steps to expedite multiple long-delayed flyover projects in the city, particularly those in Ejipura, RR Nagar, Yelahanka, and Hosakerehalli. Despite deadlines having long passed, progress on these key infrastructure projects has been sluggish or completely stalled, causing severe traffic congestion and inconvenience to commuters.

BBMP Administrator Tushar Giri Nath has directed officials to fast-track all incomplete flyover works. A special meeting held by the civic body's planning division stressed the urgency of completing these pending projects, some of which have been dragging on for years.

The Ejipura flyover, a 2.5-km stretch from the Inner Ring Road junction to Central Sadana Junction, has seen some revival in pace. After nearly eight years of delays, around 60% of the work is now complete. The BBMP is targeting full completion by the end of this year.

In RR Nagar, a bridge near the township's main entrance was supposed to be finished by June 2024, but has only seen partial pillar work done. The Rs 72 crore project has remained mostly dormant for over two and a half years.

Similarly, the Hosakerehalli flyover near PES College, meant to connect Hosakerehalli Junction to Nayandahalli Junction, began in August 2020 with a target of 15 months for completion. Now four years in, the Rs 30 crore project is far from finished. BBMP Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has been tasked with monitoring and pushing for the timely completion of these long-pending flyovers.
