The development work of the 280 km Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) in Bengaluru is progressing at a fast pace. Within a year of laying foundation for this project, the two stretches of this road would be ready by November this year.

“The foundation for this project was laid by the PM in June 2022, and two key stretches near the Bengaluru Airport are nearing completion within a year. This is the pace with which the Centre is working on the development of infrastructure in Bengluru,” told Bengaluru South MP, Tejasvi Surya to the media after inspecting the progress of work on STRR road.

He also said that he would invite PM Modi to inaugurate the two stretches of STRR once they are complete by November and any bottlenecks in the progress of the work on STRR would be addressed on priority basis.

The two stretches that are nearing completion include the 38-km stretch of the six-lane Doddaballapur-Hoskote road and the 42-km stretch of four-lane Dabaspet-Doddaballapur road.

The STRR connects the peripheral suburban areas of Bengaluru like Dabaspet, Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, Sulibele, Hoskote, Sarjapur, Attibele, Anekal, Tattekere, Kanakapura, Ramanagara, and Magadi.

This STRR is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India.

The STRR project would ease the traffic congestion in Bengaluru and provide an alternative route to trucks and other heavy vehicles to bypass the congested roads within the city.

This STRR project was originally proposed in 2005, but it could be materialised only after Modi government announced that the funding and execution for this project would be taken up under the Bharatmala Pariyojna project. This project is slated to cost Rs 17,000 crore to the government.
