Two-month-old baby died in an unfortunate incident of medical negligence

Baby was admitted to hospital for treating dysentery, other health conditions

Hospital claimed death rate is below 5 percent at hospital in past two months

Their family was a happy family with two little kids. But, a two-month-old baby of this family has died in an unfortunate incident of medical negligence, as alleged by deceased baby’s father, Jayaram.

Jayaram alleged that his two-month-old baby died due to medical negligence of doctors at Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health in Jayanagar in Bengaluru.

The baby was admitted to hospital for treating dysentery and other health issues. Baby could not return home after being treated for her health conditions here at this government children’s hospital as baby died here at the hospital.

Serious allegations of medical negligence have been leveled against doctors of this hospital by parents against the death of their baby.

This government hospital is quite well known for child care and several patients visit this hospital from across Karnataka and neighbouring states.

Jayaram and Saraswati, the parents of the baby had admitted their baby to this hospital on August 28. According to parents as told by doctors to them, the baby was normal and doing good, but later were told that the baby’s condition was serious. As claimed by parents, hospital doctors never allowed them to see their baby even once.

Another shocking allegation leveled by Jayaram against doctors of this hospital is that in the same ICU where his baby was undergoing treatment, around 12 babies have died within the past two weeks.

Sanjay, the hospital’s director claimed that the death rate is below 5 percent at the hospital in the past two months. In the past two weeks, over 450 children were admitted to ICU at this hospital and around 90 to 95 percent of them have recovered from their illness and were discharged from the hospital, according to Sanjay.

It is high time the government wakes up to this issue and addresses all the issues around medical negligence at this hospital.
