  • Government had passed an ordinance to adopt Kannada in nameboards
  • Governor returned the ordinance back to the government
  •  The procession will commence at 12 P.M

The Kannada Chaluvali Paksha under the leadership of Vatal Nagaraj will head towards the Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru on 7th February. This is pertaining to developments with regard to the adoption of name boards with 60% of the space dedicated for the Kannada version by business establishments. The Karnataka State Government had passed an ordinance to this effect. This was later sent to the Governor of Karnataka Thaawarchand Gehlot. He however returned the ordinance back to the government rather than have it approved. Pro-Kannada organisations are expressing outrage over the actions of the governor. President of the Kannada Chaluvali Paksha Vatal Nagaraj has planned a procession that culminates in the Raj Bhavan which is the residence of the Governor. He provided an update on this to press publications. “The Kannada name board ordinance has to become a bill in the state parliament at any cost.  The governor has to co-operate in this regard,” he mentioned.

The procession will commence at 12 P.M. He also highlighted that this rule must be applicable across railway stations and banks. The issue of unemployment among Kannadigas also found a mention in Vatal Nagaraj’s statements.
