Dwarakish suffered from long-term illness related to old age

He was popularly known as “Kannada Naadina Kulla”

“Nee Baredha Kadambari” was his first directorial

Veteran Sandalwood actor Dwarakish is no more. In light of long-term illness related to old age, he passed away in his residence in Bengaluru at the age of 81. 

He was popularly known as “Kannada Naadina Kulla” (Karnataka’s short person). His full name was Bangle Shama Dwarakish. He was born in Hunasooru located in the Mysuru district on 19th August 1942. He was born to Shamarao and Jayamma. He married Ambuja.

His first production was the film “Mamatheya Bandhana” (The entrapment of affection) in 1966.Dwarakish contributed Rs 2000 to the film’s investment. “Mayor Muthanna” was the first film which was solely financed by Dwrakish. Mayor Muthanna was made on a budget of Rs 1 lakh. The first film which he directed was “Nee Bredha Kadambari” (The novel you wrote) starring Sandalwood star Vishnuvardhan.
