The Festival of Handmade serves as a junction, connecting Bengaluru's residents with skilled artisans, as it embraces the city's growing emphasis on sustainability.

Organized by 'A Hundred Hands', the 14th edition of the festival, currently underway at the Jayamahal Palace Hotel, prompts meaningful conversations about the essence of art and the crucial role of sustainability in our daily lives.

Featuring a rich amalgamation of traditional and contemporary art and crafts, the bazaar aims to promote and educate the public about the diverse handicrafts crafted in India.

With an impressive display of over 60 distinct crafts, the event boasts the participation of 175 artisan groups from 25 states across the country.

Notably, the festival introduces Bengaluru to an array of tribal arts, including the debut showcase of Sohrai Art from Jharkhand, Bhil art from Madhya Pradesh, Tribal weaves, and Bastar Crafts.

A Hundred Hands, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to facilitating fair and sustainable livelihoods for creators of handmade art, crafts, and homemade foods.

The organizers, who reportedly invested an entire year in the preparation and execution of the event, found encouragement and validation in the enthusiastic response from the attendees, who actively supported local artisans by purchasing their artworks.

A notable aspect of the festival was the avid interest displayed by the younger audience, who eagerly participated in workshops and engaged with the showcasing artisans, gaining insights into the intricate processes involved in the creation of their art.

Beyond being a mere bazaar, this event serves as a bridge, fostering direct connections between consumers and artisans, allowing a deeper understanding of the art-making process.

The event, which commenced on November 1, is set to persist at Jayamahal Palace Hotel until this coming Sunday (November 5).
