Police personnel living in the Magadi Road Police Quarters have been left shocked after receiving water bills that have nearly tripled in just a few months. The quarters, which house around 398 families of police constables and officers, saw their water bill jump from Rs 845 in January 2025 to a whopping Rs 2,295 by May.

According to the bill records, the water charges increased gradually but significantly: Rs 845 in January, Rs 850 in February, Rs 1,060 in March, Rs 1,795 in April, and finally Rs 2,295 in May. The steep rise, especially in the last two months, has left many police families worried about their household budgets, as most constables already manage on modest salaries.

Several residents have expressed concerns that the sudden spike could be due to faulty water meters or technical errors in billing. Some suspect that leaks or inaccurate meter readings might be behind the unexplained increase. However, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has yet to issue any official clarification.

Residents have demanded regular checks of meters and better maintenance of the water supply system within the police quarters. Many worry that if this issue is not resolved soon, it could lead to further disputes and financial hardship for hundreds of families who rely on accurate billing to manage their daily expenses.
