Bengaluru couples are redefining the wedding landscape with unique trends that blend tradition and modernity, according to the Annual Wedding Report 2024 by WedMeGood. The report, based on a survey of over 3,500 engaged couples from Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities, reveals intriguing patterns in how the city approaches weddings.

The average Bengaluru wedding features 30% more guests than the national average but operates on a 12% smaller budget. While Indian weddings typically cost ₹36.5 lakh, Bengaluru’s ceremonies tend to be more economical. Only 5.7% of Bengaluru couples spend over ₹1 crore on their weddings, compared to 9% nationally, according to WedMeGood report.
Modern trends are also shaping weddings across the city. Social media platforms now surpass traditional matrimonial services as the primary way couples meet. Pre-wedding planning increasingly involves discussions around finances, mental health, and sustainability.
Destination weddings, which now constitute 25% of all weddings, are on the rise, with 60% of those costing over ₹1 crore. The growing popularity of wedding planners reflects this shift, with 16.7% of couples hiring professional services—a 15% increase from last year.
Sustainability is also gaining traction, with 45.5% of respondents choosing lab-grown diamonds and over half opting for eco-conscious measures like food donations and reduced plastic use.
WedMeGood's findings highlight Bengaluru’s distinct approach, merging cost-consciousness with a focus on inclusivity and modern priorities.
