Bengaluru: What is team India’s track record in T20s in Chinnaswamy?

  • India might experiment with the squad
  • India have won only 2 out of the 6 games in Bengaluru
  • Glenn Maxwell will not feature in this game

With the T20 series having been sealed in India’s favour with a 20-run victory in the 4th T20 in Raipur, the fight in the final match of the series is mostly for pride for both teams. India might experiment with the squad as the series win gives them the scope for doing so. The conditions are also favourable for the inclusion of all-rounder Washington Sundar who also has experience in these conditions during his stint with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Shivam Dube who did not occupy the mainstage for a major part of the tournament might also be given a chance.

As far as T20s are concerned, the records are not staked in India’s favour in the Chinnaswamy stadium. They have won only 2 out of the 6 games which were scheduled in Bengaluru. One of these was the famous win against Bangladesh in World Cup 2016 which too seemed to be slipping from India’s hand until a miracle unfolded in the last three balls.

Australia and India had faced off in the stadium in February 2019. They had managed to chase down a target of 190 with 2 balls to spare at the back of a brilliant century by Glenn Maxwell. He would however not feature in this game.
