Kiran, the former driver of the Deputy Director in the Mines and Geology department, Pratima who is currently under police custody has revealed the series of incidents leading up to the murder. 

Although the crime scene did not contain enough clues, the police had come to the conclusion that the crime could not have been committed by any outsider. The doubts against Kiran intensified based on the suspicious activity of his phone and he was eventually nabbed in the Mahadeshwara hills.

During the interrogation he has revealed what exactly provoked him to take this step. 

Kiran was associated with Pratima for quite a few years. He had told members of his family that he had a government job. His marriage was also finalised on this basis. But after he was relieved from his duty, the truth could not be kept away from his wife. She subsequently shifted to her parent’s house. 

On the fateful night he reached Pratima’s residence enduring the heavy rain across the city. He is said to have fallen to Pratima’s feet begging her for a job. Kiran has alleged that Pratima kicked him with her feet which triggered him to take the decision of killing. He strangled her with her own veil and stabbed her with a kitchen knife.

 It is also alleged that Prathima would shout at him over trivial things during his time as a driver and blew a minor accident out of proportion to have him fired.
