There have been new developments in the hit and run case in the Thalaghattapura region of Bengaluru. What was initially assumed to be a hit and run case could now very well be a murder case as per the police investigation.

A dead body was spotted on a main road that falls under the jurisdiction of the Thalaghattapura Police Station. Initially, the identity of the dead person remained a mystery. It was assumed that he was hit by a vehicle. A case was registered on the basis of this assumption before the police started investigations. The police then examined CCTV visuals from the region. The truth then came to light.

The man who was found dead had got down from a car in close proximity to where his body was spotted. Another individual had also accompanied him. It has been established that the man was struck by the very same car from which he had gotten down.

55-year-old Gopi, who was a resident of Konankunte has been identified as the deceased individual. Gopi had consumed alcohol along with his friend Umapathi. Munikrishna had also joined them. The three of them had collected alcohol from a bar at night. The three got into a car owned by Munikrishna. They began consuming alcohol inside the car. Gopi reportedly verbally abused Munikrishna after getting drunk. Munikirishna apparently asked Gopi to get down from the car as a result of this. Gopi supposedly flung his slipper at Munikrishna after getting down from the car. Munikrishna also instructed Umapathi to get down from the car and left in anger. He later made a U-turn and struck Gopi with his car.

Umpathi is believed to be out of town at the moment. He is said to have attempted suicide in Malur. He is being treated in a hospital. Munikrishna has been arrested by the Thalaghattapura Police.
