BMTC has commenced operation of 37 feeder buses

Bus services connect KR Pura to Silk Board Junction

Approximately 300–350 trips will be conducted each day

Coinciding with the inauguration of the Baiyappanahalli-KR Pura metro station today (October 9), the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has commenced the operation of 37 feeder buses that will link up with Silk Board Junction and adjacent areas.

BMTC has initiated bus services on two specific routes originating from the KR Pura metro station. According to G. T. Prabhakar Reddi, Deputy Chief Traffic Manager at BMTC as reported in the media, a fleet of twenty-two Volvo Vajra buses is now serving the route between KR Pura and Silk Board Junction, while an additional 15 ordinary buses are allocated to the second route.

The newly introduced bus service connecting KR Pura to Silk Board Junction offers two distinct routes. One route follows the Outer Ring Road, passing through Marathahalli and Iblur, while the other route travels through Marathahalli, Kundalahalli, ITPL, and Garudacharpalya.

These buses are operating at high frequency, with approximately 300–350 trips conducted each day. Passengers can expect a short waiting time of 8–10 minutes on the KR Pura to Silk Board Junction route and 5–10 minutes on the alternative route.

These buses are set to benefit individuals employed in technology parks along the Outer Ring Road (ORR). BMTC is actively advocating for the establishment of a dedicated bus lane on the ORR, as well as improvements to the road infrastructure itself. The implementation of a designated bus lane could potentially reduce travel times by 15 minutes.

The KR Pura-Silk Board Junction route is a bustling one for BMTC, with a total of 315 buses in operation. Among these, 100 are Vajra buses, which operate along the ORR and serve key locations such as Silk Board Junction, KR Puram, Hebbal, and Goraguntepalya.
