A woman who was engaged committed suicide due to alleged harrasment from ex-lover. 19-year-old Chandrakala belonging to Sanjapura which lies close to Jigani has been identified as the victim. She had an affair with Arun Kumar who was her neighbour. She was advised to stay away from him as he had served time in jail. Her engagement was fixed with another person known to her family. The family has alleged that Arun issued death threats to her days before the suicide and pressurised her to break the engagement. They have filed a complaint to this effect in the Jigani Police Station. Arun is currently absconding.

Arun and Chandrika’s relationship supposedly lasted for 1 year. Arun promised to get married to her after his elder sister’s marriage. However he is alleged to have gone back on his promise. When Chandrika sent her mother to his house over this, she was reportedly insulted. However Arun is said to have come into the picture after Chandrika’s engagement.
