Bengaluru, January 14: Two officials from the BBMP South Zone office near South End Circle have been suspended following a surprise inspection by Upalokayukta Justice Veerappa. The officials, identified as second-grade employee Kavitha and Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) Sujatha, were found guilty of dereliction of duty.

During the inspection, it was discovered that Kavitha had left her post and allowed her son, Naveen, to occupy her seat and handle official responsibilities using her login credentials. The ARO, Sujatha, was also found to be negligent in her supervisory role.

The incident is part of a broader investigation into irregularities within BBMP offices. Recently, Lokayukta police conducted raids on 54 BBMP offices, including the South End Circle ARO office, uncovering several cases of misconduct. Naveen, who had been working without authorization, was arrested following a complaint filed by Lokayukta authorities with the Siddapura police. He is currently under investigation.

The BBMP has suspended the two officials for misuse of authority and failing to uphold their duties. Internal sources confirmed that measures are being implemented to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure greater accountability within the administration.

This incident has raised concerns about the efficiency and transparency of BBMP operations, prompting calls for stricter monitoring and enforcement of ethical practices.
