A disturbing road rage incident in New Thippasandra on July 2 has once again brought the spotlight on the growing concerns over women’s safety in Bengaluru. The incident took place around 9:45 PM, when a woman named Deepika was allegedly harassed by a man identified as Saravana over a dispute related to overtaking and honking.

According to the complaint, the man, who was driving a car, confronted Deepika in the middle of heavy traffic and forcibly took the key from her bike. He allegedly ordered her to walk up to his car, and when she resisted, he verbally abused her using foul language. Bystanders intervened after hearing Deepika's screams, and only then did the man return her bike key.

The situation escalated when Deepika attempted to record the incident on her phone. She alleges that Saravana tried to run her over with his car. Despite approaching the local police station that night, no FIR was initially registered. The case was only taken seriously after Deepika filed a complaint directly with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner.

Following his instructions, an FIR was registered at JB Nagar Police Station, and Saravana’s statement has been recorded. The investigation is ongoing. The incident has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns about how safe women really are on the streets of India’s tech capital.
