The source of a bomb threat in the Bengaluru city was traced to a wife seeking revenge over her husband who broke her mobile phone. Her husband had taken this action as he wanted to put an end to friendships the 32-year-old woman had developed online. The woman’s friends suggested to her this act as revenge. They drafted and forwarded her a text message and also the contact number of a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.

She followed through on their advice. The police picked up her husband on suspicion and unravelled the truth during investigations. “It took some time for him to understand what was happening. We showed him the WhatsApp message. He checked his phone and the message had been deleted. We told him the time and date, he said he was asleep at that time. Then, he called his wife, asking her whether she knew anything about this. Her reaction was suspicious. Upon questioning her she spilled the beans. She had befriended one man on a dating app. He introduced his friend to her. We have named them as the prime accused in the case,” an officer said. The police force have also dispatched a team to Darbhanga to apprehend the woman’s friends involved in this case.
