Bengaluru: Youngsters extorting drivers to impress girlfriends arrested

Two youngsters involved in extortion activities to impress their girlfriends have been arrested. They have been identified as Usman and Soorya. 

Both of them worked as a team. Their activities were spread across Bengaluru. 

Cases registered in Pulikeshi Nagar and Banaswadi have been traced to them. Those travelling alone and cab drivers were among their targets. 

Two months ago, a delivery boy was threatened by Usman. Usman stole his phone and some cash. He later gifted the phone to his girlfriend. This had led the police to believe that she was the perpetrator of the crime. It was only during the investigation that the truth unravelled. Usman’s girlfriend led the police on to Usman. 

Usman was then brought in by the police for interrogation. It was only then that the skeletons in the closet tumbled. Usman Pasha, Irfan Jeeva and Soorya have been apprehended subsequently. Rs 1.5 lakh has been retrieved from them during investigations.
