Workers claim they faced salary cuts for refusing to deliver expired food items. Additionally, some alleged that the store sold rotten eggs, spoiled bread, and foul-smelling meat to unsuspecting customers. There are also accusations that bad-quality water was used for store operations, with employees warned not to inform customers if they discovered food contamination.
Adding to their grievances, delivery riders expressed concerns over a complete lack of safety measures, leaving them vulnerable while on duty. Reports suggest that 14 to 15 staff members were terminated for questioning these unethical practices. Employees also alleged that their weekly wages were withheld as a form of punishment.
The controversy has sparked public outrage, with many questioning Zepto’s commitment to food safety and fair labor practices. When approached, the rider in charge reportedly distanced himself from the issue, stating that only the store manager could address these concerns.
The allegations, backed by evidence from the staff, have raised serious concerns among customers. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter further, while Zepto is yet to release an official statement.
