Residents of Ahad Serenity in Choodasandra say fear has replaced peace as repeated stray dog attacks, basement filth and safety concerns disturb daily life
What was meant to be a peaceful residential space has turned into a place of fear for families living at Choodasandra. Residents of Ahad Serenity Apartment say they are living in constant anxiety due to the growing presence of stray dogs inside their apartment premises.
According to residents, more than 25 stray dogs have made the basement areas of the apartment their shelter. The situation recently turned serious when a young woman, returning home late at night after work, was suddenly chased and attacked by a pack of dogs inside the premises. Residents say it was a narrow escape and could have turned fatal if help had not arrived in time.
This is not the first such incident. Locals claim that several residents have already been attacked earlier. Last month, a group of boys playing inside the apartment compound were allegedly targeted, and the dogs even attempted to bite them. CCTV footage from the premises reportedly captures multiple such aggressive movements by the dogs.
Parents say children are now afraid to step outside, even to play. Many residents claim they hesitate to step out of their own flats because of the dogs roaming freely in the basement and common areas.
Apart from attacks, hygiene has become another major concern. Residents allege that the dogs frequently dirty the basement areas and even enter the swimming pool zone, creating sanitation issues. They fear this could increase the risk of diseases spreading within the apartment.
Some residents further allege that feeding of stray dogs within the premises has contributed to the growing number and aggression. There is also uncertainty about whether the dogs have been vaccinated. People say they are worried about what would happen if someone is bitten.
Residents now say they are shocked and distressed. Having invested crores for a secure and peaceful life, they claim they are instead living in fear at every step.
