52-year-old cab driver burns live-in partner alive in Bengaluru

A gruesome murder rocked Bengaluru’s Hulimavu after a 52-year-old cab driver, Vitthal, set ablaze his 26-year-old live-in partner Vanajakshi following disputes over her alleged new relationship. Police have arrested the accused.

A 26-year-old woman living with a cab driver in Hulimavu, Bengaluru, was set ablaze with petrol in a shocking act of rage after disputes in their live-in relationship.

Bengaluru witnessed a chilling crime on Monday as a live-in relationship turned fatal in Hulimavu. A 26-year-old woman, Vanajakshi from Malenallasandra village near Anekal, was allegedly burnt alive by her partner, 52-year-old cab driver Vitthal, after pouring petrol and setting her on fire.

According to police, Vanajakshi, had been living with Vitthal for the last four to five years. Vitthal had earlier been married twice; his first wife passed away, and his second wife reportedly left him. After this, he developed a relationship with Vanajakshi.

However, tensions arose when Vanajakshi allegedly grew close to another man from the same village. Over the past month, frequent quarrels had broken out between the couple. Matters escalated on Saturday when Vitthal spotted Vanajakshi traveling with her new partner in a car from Bannerghatta to Basavanapura.

Enraged, Vitthal followed the car in his Santro near Hommadevanahalli under Hulimavu police limits. Carrying five liters of petrol with him, he attempted to block their way. As Vanajakshi and her companion tried to escape, Vitthal caught hold of her, doused her in petrol, and set her ablaze with a lighter.

Vanajakshi sustained nearly 60% burn injuries and was rushed to a private hospital, but despite treatment, she succumbed to her injuries. Police have registered a case at Hulimavu Police Station. Vitthal has been arrested and is being interrogated
