A simple digital payment mistake during a BMTC bus journey in Bengaluru’s Banashankari left a passenger stunned after ₹62,316 was transferred instead of a ₹6 ticket fare.
In an unusual incident highlighting the risks of digital payment errors, a BMTC bus passenger accidentally transferred ₹62,316 instead of ₹6 while purchasing a ticket in Bengaluru. The incident occurred on January 14 in the Banashankari area and has since drawn attention after officials confirmed the details to News First.
According to information available, the incident took place at around 8.30 pm when the passenger was travelling from Banashankari to Kadirenahalli on a BMTC bus. While paying for a ₹6 ticket, the passenger mistakenly entered a much higher amount during the UPI transaction.
The error went unnoticed initially, but moments later, the passenger realised the shocking mistake and immediately informed the bus conductor. The conductor, who was equally surprised, checked his account and found that ₹62,316 had indeed been credited instead of the intended fare.
