Eight capuchin monkeys from South Africa have reached Bannerghatta Biological Park under an international animal exchange programme and are currently kept under quarantine.
Bannerghatta Biological Park has added new members to its wildlife family with the arrival of capuchin monkeys from Africa. The monkeys have been brought to Bengaluru as part of an international animal exchange programme aimed at strengthening conservation and breeding efforts.
According to officials, four pairs of capuchin monkeys were received from the Induna Primate and Parrot Park in South Africa. The animals reached Bannerghatta Biological Park on Sunday night after completing all required transport and veterinary procedures.

At present, all the capuchin monkeys have been placed under quarantine as per standard animal care and safety protocols. During this period, veterinarians and animal care staff will closely monitor their health, behaviour and adaptation to the new environment.
Officials added that once the mandatory quarantine period is completed and the monkeys are declared healthy, arrangements will be made to introduce them to their designated enclosure. The public will be allowed to view the capuchin monkeys soon after this process is completed.
Bannerghatta Biological Park regularly participates in national and international animal exchange programmes to improve genetic diversity, promote conservation and offer visitors a chance to see a wider range of wildlife species. The arrival of the capuchin monkeys is expected to be a major attraction for visitors in the coming days.
