Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued electronic demand notices worth ₹786 crore to property tax defaulters, cautioning strict recovery measures.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched a massive crackdown on property tax defaulters by issuing electronic demand notices to 2.75 lakh property owners, collectively owing ₹786 crore in pending dues.

The notices, signed by Special Commissioner (Revenue) Mounish Moudgil, direct defaulters to clear outstanding payments online at BBMPtax.karnataka.gov.in. Those who fail to comply risk seizure of movable and immovable assets, including the auctioning of properties, as part of strict recovery measures.

In addition, taxpayers who believe the demand is incorrect or have valid reasons for non-payment can file an appeal through BBMPeNyaya.karnataka.gov.in, where an online redressal mechanism is available.

Officials said this drive comes after repeated defaults by property owners despite multiple reminders. The civic body aims to plug revenue leaks and ensure financial stability for ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects in the city.

With Bengaluru’s civic finances under strain, BBMP’s latest move signals a zero-tolerance approach toward tax evasion.
