Publicity stunt for newly released film ‘Star’ outside Chandrodaya Theatre lands actor Sharath Prakash and theatre owner in legal trouble as Hanumanthanagar police file FIR under the Arms Act.
In an unusual incident in Bengaluru, a film promotion stunt has landed an actor in legal trouble. Actor Sharath Prakash, the lead of the recently released Kannada movie “Star”, is facing a police case after he reportedly stood outside a theatre holding a deadly weapon as part of the film’s publicity campaign.
The incident took place in front of Chandrodaya Theatre in Bengaluru, where the actor appeared with a machete (long weapon) in his hand while promoting the newly released film. The promotional act was done in full public view, with several people and moviegoers present at the location.
According to reports, Sharath Prakash held the weapon and posed outside the theatre as part of the promotional activity to attract attention to the film. However, the act created concern among people present in the area, as he was seen standing with the weapon in a public place.
Following this, a complaint was filed at the Hanumanthanagar Police Station in Bengaluru. The complaint alleged that the actor’s act of holding a machete in a public area created fear and panic among the public.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against actor Sharath Prakash under the Arms Act. Authorities stated that displaying a dangerous weapon in a public place can lead to law and order concerns.
The complaint also mentioned that the theatre management had supported the promotional activity. As a result, the owner of Chandrodaya Theatre has also been named in the FIR along with the actor.
Police officials stated that both the actor and the theatre management were allegedly involved in allowing the publicity stunt to take place on the street outside the theatre. Because of this, legal action has been initiated against both parties.
In recent times, there have been growing concerns that some members of the film industry are taking law and order regulations lightly while promoting their movies. To attract attention and create viral content on social media, some promotional campaigns have involved unusual and controversial gimmicks.
The Hanumanthanagar police have now registered the case and have begun further legal procedures related to the matter.
