A new partnership between Bengaluru Airport City Limited and GAIL Gas Limited will bring a CNG and clean energy hub to Kempegowda International Airport, boosting green mobility.
In a big push towards sustainable mobility, Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) has signed an agreement with GAIL Gas Limited, a subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited, to set up a city gas distribution facility at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).
The upcoming facility will not only host a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station but also integrate Piped Natural Gas (PNG) systems across installations, along with other clean energy solutions aimed at reducing carbon emissions.

Significantly, the hub will cater to thousands of vehicles and logistics fleets that pass through the airport daily, improving last-mile connectivity and offering commuters a convenient CNG refuelling option right at the airport. The project also includes non-fuel retail and convenience outlets, making it a dual-purpose stop for both sustainability and commuter needs.
Calling it a major leap in clean transport infrastructure, Goutom Chakraborty, CEO of GAIL Gas Limited, said, “The establishment of the CNG station within Bengaluru Airport City will greatly benefit thousands of vehicles, providing convenient access to CNG refuelling for commuters travelling to and from the airport.”
