Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities
Eyewitnesses described how the bus swerved erratically, hitting multiple two-wheelers and cars before coming to a stop. Thankfully, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Bystanders and emergency services acted swiftly, ensuring the safety of those involved.
The bus driver, who was the sole person injured in the incident, was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. BMTC officials confirmed that he is in stable condition and recovering. They clarified that the incident was caused by the driver's unexpected medical emergency, not mechanical failure or negligence.
Despite the initial chaos, traffic was quickly restored by Bengaluru traffic police, who efficiently cleared the damaged vehicles from the area. Their prompt response helped avoid a significant traffic jam in the already congested Central Business District, home to the stadium.
The incident has highlighted the need for better health monitoring of public transport drivers, particularly in high-traffic areas. BMTC has expressed regret over the incident and offered support to those whose vehicles were damaged.
