Six Assembly segments covered in a large-scale clean-up drive as Commissioner Rajendra Cholan reviews on-ground sanitation and penalises travel agencies for obstructive parking.
The Bengaluru Central City Corporation carried out an extensive mass clean-up operation on Sunday across six Assembly constituencies under its jurisdiction. The drive was led by Commissioner Rajendra Cholan, who personally supervised sanitation activities across key stretches.
The civic body deployed teams across areas including Chikkapete, RV Road, Lalbagh Road and Gandhinagar, where Cholan conducted on-ground checks to assess the status of cleanliness, waste handling and traffic movement. Officials said the initiative aims to strengthen routine sanitation efforts in some of the most congested parts of the central division.

During the inspection, the Commissioner instructed staff to organise mass clean-up campaigns once every 15 days to maintain hygiene and ensure the central city zone remains consistently clean.
A significant part of the day’s enforcement included action against private travel operators. Cholan noted that several travel agencies had parked vehicles indiscriminately along the roadside, causing obstruction to other motorists and affecting the ongoing sanitation work. Finding repeated violations, he imposed fines on the erring agencies and warned them against blocking public roads.

Officials from the Central City Corporation stated that strict monitoring will continue, and further penalties will be issued if private operators fail to comply with parking and cleanliness norms.
