Middle East airspace closures after US-Israel strikes on Iran disrupted Bengaluru flights. Indian carriers suspended services; DGCA issued advisory, BIAL set up help desk
Flight operations at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru faced significant disruptions on Saturday after escalating tensions in the Middle East triggered widespread airspace closures. The situation followed coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets, prompting countries including Iran, Iraq, and the UAE to shut their skies to civilian traffic.
The closures have forced global airlines to cancel, divert, or ground several flights, with Indian carriers such as Air India and IndiGo suspending all services to Middle Eastern destinations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an urgent advisory instructing Indian airlines to avoid affected airspace for safety reasons.

At KIA, international flight schedules have been impacted, with delays and diversions reported. Airport authorities have urged passengers to check the latest status with their airlines before heading to the terminal. To assist travellers, Bangalore International Airport Ltd (BIAL) has set up a dedicated help desk at Terminal 2’s kerbside area to provide real-time updates and guidance.
Due to the evolving situation in parts of the Middle East, some international flights are experiencing schedule changes.

Officials emphasized that they are closely monitoring developments in coordination with airlines and regulatory bodies to minimize inconvenience. While the situation remains fluid, the disruptions highlight the vulnerability of global aviation networks to geopolitical tensions, with Bengaluru’s international connectivity directly affected by events unfolding thousands of kilometres away.
