Large flexes and cut-outs remain across Pulakeshinagar and parts of West Bengaluru, raising questions over selective enforcement and public inconvenience.

Unauthorized flexes and large banners have once again taken over public spaces in Bengaluru, particularly in Pulakeshinagar, triggering strong criticism against civic authorities. Massive cut-outs and flex boards have been installed prominently, including right in front of AC Srinivas’s office, with little to no action taken for their removal.

The flexes were put up in connection with the MLA’s birthday, which was observed on January 12. However, despite more than a week passing since the celebrations ended, the banners and cut-outs continue to remain in place. This delay has raised serious questions about enforcement and accountability.

Several of these flexes are seen along the busy stretch from Fraser Town to Nagawara, where traffic movement is already heavy. In one location, a large cut-out has been erected extending up to half the width of the road directly outside the MLA’s office, creating inconvenience for motorists and pedestrians alike.

The situation has led to growing public resentment, with residents questioning whether different rules apply to ordinary citizens and public representatives. The continued presence of these structures is being viewed as a clear violation of High Court orders that strictly ban flexes and banners on public roads.

Civic officials are being accused of turning a blind eye to the issue, even as illegal flexes mushroom overnight without notice. The lack of timely action has intensified criticism that enforcement agencies are selectively inactive when it comes to politically linked displays.

The problem is not limited to Pulakeshinagar alone. Similar large cut-outs have been reported in the Housing Board area of Vijayanagar, where flexes linked to MLA Priyakrishna have also been installed. Residents in these areas have expressed anger over the obstruction caused and the apparent disregard for safety and legality.

With traffic disruptions and public inconvenience continuing, citizens are demanding uniform enforcement of rules and immediate removal of illegal flexes, irrespective of who they are associated with.
