As the festive travel season intensifies, Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru has issued an advisory urging passengers to plan their journeys carefully. With the anticipated rise in passenger traffic during September and October, the airport has warned of potential delays due to heightened security measures.

The advisory, released on September 23, highlighted the importance of allowing extra time for security checks, stating that the airport expects a surge in traveller numbers. Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and allocate ample time for these procedures to avoid any last-minute rush.
KIA also shared this message via social media, reminding travellers to contact their respective airlines for any additional information. The airport emphasized the opportunity to enjoy the range of services available at the terminal, including shopping, dining, and relaxing in the lounge, for those who arrive early.
Similar advisory was issued during nationwide security alert
This is not the first time the airport has asked passengers to factor in extra time. In May, a similar advisory was issued due to a nationwide security alert, which saw tighter security measures implemented in response to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) mandated secondary ladder point checks and restricted visitor access to terminals, urging passengers to arrive three hours before departure to ensure smooth processing.
Given the combination of stricter security and the festive rush, KIA is advising all passengers to arrive early and make use of terminal amenities to ensure a stress-free travel experience.
