Revised fares apply across all zones; smart card discounts to continue, says BMRCL
The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has officially announced a revision in metro ticket prices, confirming a 5% increase in fares across its entire operational network. The revised fares will come into effect from February 9, 2026, following the annual fare revision mechanism recommended by the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC).
According to BMRCL, the fare revision is being implemented under the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002, based on the recommendations of the first Fare Fixation Committee constituted for the Bengaluru Metro. This marks the introduction of an automatic annual fare revision system, aimed at avoiding sudden and steep fare hikes in the future.

BMRCL operates a 96.10 km metro network, divided into 10 fare zones. Under the revised structure, passengers will see a minimum increase of ₹1 and a maximum increase of ₹5, depending on the distance travelled.
Revised Zone-wise Metro Fares (From Feb 9, 2026)
• ₹10 → ₹11
• ₹20 → ₹21
• ₹30 → ₹32
• ₹40 → ₹42
• ₹50 → ₹53
• ₹60 → ₹63
• ₹70 → ₹74
• ₹80 → ₹84
• ₹90 → ₹95
The corporation clarified that although operational and maintenance costs increased by 10.20% in the financial year 2024-25 compared to 2023-24, the fare hike has been restricted to 5%, in line with FFC guidelines.
The Fare Fixation Committee had earlier noted that a 7.5-year delay in fare revision resulted in an average fare increase of 51.55% at one stage. To prevent such sharp hikes, the committee recommended an annual, transparent, and formula-based revision, capped at 5% or actual cost increase, whichever is lower, rounded to the nearest rupee.
Smart Card and NCMC discounts continue
BMRCL has confirmed that all existing passenger-friendly discounts for smart card and NCMC users will remain unchanged:
• 5% discount during peak hours
• 10% discount during non-peak hours
• 10% discount on Sundays and three notified national holidays
Tourist card and group ticket fare revision
The 5% annual hike will also apply to tourist cards and group tickets.
Revised Tourist Card Prices:
One-Day Pass
• Smart Card: ₹300 → ₹313
• Mobile QR: ₹250 → ₹263
Three-Day Pass
• Smart Card: ₹600 → ₹628
• Mobile QR: ₹550 → ₹578
Five-Day Pass
• Smart Card: ₹900 → ₹943
• Mobile QR: ₹850 → ₹893
BMRCL stated that this gradual fare adjustment is intended to ensure financial sustainability, maintain service reliability, and manage rising inflation and maintenance costs, while protecting commuters from sudden fare shocks.
