Bengaluru motorists have been given an opportunity to settle long-standing traffic fines at half the cost, as the city’s traffic police announced a 50 per cent discount on all pending challans. The rebate is available from August 23 to September 12 and aims to encourage citizens to clear their dues promptly.
This limited-period initiative follows the success of earlier drives where similar concessions drew strong public participation. The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) expects the scheme to ease the financial burden on motorists while helping authorities recover large sums in pending fines.

How to pay traffic challans
Vehicle owners can access the rebate through multiple channels. Payments can be made via the Karnataka State Police (KSP) app, the BTP ASTraM app, or at the nearest traffic police station by providing vehicle registration details. Transactions are also accepted at the Traffic Management Centre and through online platforms such as Karnataka One and Bangalore One.
Authorities are urging residents to check their vehicle numbers for outstanding challans and use the offer before it expires. Beyond reducing individual liabilities, the initiative is expected to lower the risk of legal complications arising from unpaid fines.
Past drives have demonstrated the scale of public response. In 2023, a similar campaign helped clear over two lakh violations and generated more than ₹5.6 crore in collections. Officials are hopeful that this year’s discount will once again prompt citizens to clear long-pending dues efficiently.
