Bengaluru police crack down on wrong-way driving: vehicles seized, cases filed, and licenses cancelled in Kamakshipalya to curb accidents

Motorists in the city have been warned of strict disciplinary action as police intensify their crackdown on wrong-way driving. The move comes after repeated violations, particularly in Kamakshipalya, where a special operation has been launched to improve traffic discipline and reduce accidents.

Authorities have announced that driving against the designated one-way flow will now attract severe penalties. The Transport Department has instructed the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to cancel driving licenses of offenders. In addition, vehicles caught moving in the opposite direction will be seized, and cases of dangerous driving will be registered against violators.

Police officials noted that many motorists take wrong routes for trivial reasons, often disregarding safety and focusing only on capturing photos or videos of traffic cameras. Such behaviour, they emphasized, undermines road safety and contributes to congestion and accidents.

The Kamakshipalya police station has been tasked with leading the special operation, which aims to enforce discipline, control accidents, and ensure smoother traffic flow. Officers have been deployed to monitor key stretches and identify offenders in real time.

Bengaluru police have urged citizens to respect traffic rules and warned that strict enforcement will continue. The campaign underscores the city’s commitment to safer roads and responsible driving practices.
