BWSSB to halt Cauvery pumping for 24 hours to link major pipelines; residents across large parts of the city asked to store water in advance.

Cauvery water supply will be disrupted in several parts of Bengaluru for two days on February 5 and 6 due to emergency maintenance works undertaken by the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).

BWSSB Chairman Dr. V. Ram Prasath Manohar said the disruption is due to pipeline linking work involving large-diameter water lines. As part of the project, 1200 mm and 700 mm diameter pipelines are being connected under ongoing infrastructure works.

To carry out this task, pumping operations under the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme Phases I and II will be completely stopped for 24 hours. The shutdown will begin at 6 am on Thursday, February 5, and continue until 6 am on Friday, February 6.

Due to the temporary shutdown of pumping stations, Cauvery water supply will be affected across a wide range of residential and commercial areas in the city. The BWSSB chairman urged citizens to store sufficient water in advance and cooperate with authorities during the maintenance period.
