Bengaluru’s Yellow Line Metro services faced a major disruption now when a train was halted at Jayadeva Metro Station for over eight minutes, causing inconvenience to hundreds of commuters.
The stoppage occurred after the train doors failed to close properly due to overcrowding inside the coaches. Metro officials said the unusually high passenger load has made it difficult to manage door operations, resulting in frequent delays.

Daily ridership on the Namma Metro Yellow Line has surged sharply since its partial launch, with passenger volume far exceeding operational capacity. Although the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) introduced a fourth train on the line from Tuesday, services continue to remain strained. Until then, only three trains were operating.
Overcrowding during peak office hours
Currently, trains are running at intervals of 19 minutes, which has led to overcrowding during peak office hours. Commuters reported that the platforms were packed, and coaches were filled to the extent that passengers were unable to board comfortably. The swelling crowd not only delays door closure but also raises safety concerns, officials admitted.
Despite the additional train, passenger numbers have not eased. BMRCL said it is monitoring the situation closely and exploring ways to improve frequency once more rakes become available.
For now, commuters on the Yellow Line continue to battle long waiting times and congested rides, underlining the urgent need for better frequency to match the growing demand.
