Responding to a public appeal, Sujaya Jagadeesh adopted 20 street dogs at once, setting a strong example for animal welfare and public health under approved legal guidelines.
In a heartwarming act of compassion, a woman from the North City Corporation limits has adopted 20 street dogs in one single move, providing them with safety, care, and a new lease of life. The adoption was carried out in accordance with legal provisions under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (PCA Act) and the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023.
The woman, identified as Sujaya Jagadeesh, stepped forward after civic authorities appealed to the public to adopt street dogs in the interest of animal welfare and public health. Responding positively to the call, she completed the adoption process and gave shelter to 20 street dogs, setting a powerful example of responsibility and kindness.

Officials confirmed that all the adopted dogs have been provided with essential vaccinations, including Anti-Rabies Vaccine (ARV) and combined vaccines. In addition, all dogs have undergone Animal Birth Control (ABC) surgical procedures to prevent uncontrolled breeding and improve overall health standards.
The civic body had earlier urged citizens to adopt street dogs to ensure better care, reduce stray populations humanely, and enhance public safety. The appeal highlighted that responsible adoption plays a key role in maintaining public hygiene, preventing disease spread, and supporting animal welfare.
Following this initiative, authorities say there has been a positive response from the public, with growing interest in adopting street dogs. Officials believe that such actions will significantly help improve the lives of street animals while also contributing to healthier urban living conditions.
