CCTV captures violent attack in Maruti Nagar; victims allege FIR not registered due to political influence and criminal background of accused
A shocking incident of violent assault over a trivial issue has been reported from Maruti Nagar in Madiwala, Bengaluru, raising serious concerns over police inaction and alleged influence of the accused. The incident took place around 1:30 am on the night of the 22nd, when a young man named Naveen was brutally attacked by Kiran and Stephen.
According to the complaint, Naveen, a resident of Maruti Nagar, was returning home from work late at night when his bike ran out of petrol. He stopped his vehicle on the roadside. At this moment, Kiran arrived holding a dog and questioned Naveen aggressively about why he had stopped there. What began as a minor argument quickly escalated into violence, with Kiran allegedly assaulting Naveen.

Not stopping there, Kiran reportedly called his associate Stephen to the spot. Both accused then pushed Naveen onto the road and repeatedly kicked and assaulted him, inflicting serious injuries. The entire episode was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, clearly showing the brutality of the attack.
Locals allege that despite the severity of the assault and clear CCTV evidence, Madiwala police failed to register an FIR, and instead filed only a Non-Cognizable Report (NCR), forcing the victim to make repeated visits to the police station. This has triggered allegations of gross negligence and deliberate delay.
The situation has become more serious as Stephen is known to have a criminal history. He was earlier arrested by Siddapur police in a deadly assault case and had been released from jail just a month ago. The other accused, Kiran, is reportedly the son of a Congress party leader, leading to allegations that political influence is the reason behind the delay in filing an FIR.

Residents and the victim’s family have strongly demanded immediate registration of an FIR and the arrest of both accused, warning that continued delay could erode public trust in law enforcement. They insist that strict legal action must be taken to ensure justice and prevent such incidents from recurring.
