Multiple vehicles including two cars, a lorry and a bus were involved in a serious accident near Hale Chandapura railway bridge amid ongoing highway construction.

A major road accident disrupted traffic on the busy Bengaluru-Hosur National Highway after a chain collision involving two cars, a lorry and a bus occurred near the Hale Chandapura railway bridge in Anekal taluk. The incident took place on the main stretch close to the railway bridge, a zone already affected by highway expansion work.

According to available details, two cars travelling from the Hale Chandapura side entered the highway from the wrong direction in an attempt to avoid heavy congestion caused by ongoing road work. As the vehicles moved against traffic flow, they collided head-on with a lorry. The impact was severe, leaving both cars badly damaged.

The force of the collision caused one of the cars to overturn and get trapped beneath the lorry. The lorry reportedly dragged the cars several metres before coming to a halt. A bus was also caught in the chain reaction, adding to the intensity of the accident scene.

Despite the seriousness of the crash, the occupants of the cars escaped with only minor injuries, avoiding a major tragedy. Emergency response teams later used a crane to remove the damaged vehicles from the highway to restore traffic movement.

The accident led to a long traffic jam on Hosur main road, worsening an already stressful commute for daily road users. Motorists complained that traffic congestion has become a routine issue due to prolonged highway construction, with no effective traffic regulation in place.

Regular commuters expressed frustration over the alleged negligence of the highway authority and traffic police, stating that poor planning and lack of traffic control have resulted in daily gridlocks.

Students, office-goers, and other daily travellers continue to struggle due to recurring congestion in the area.
